At 17.01.2018 the first Keep Control E-Journal Club including all Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) will take place. This E-Journal Club is planned 3-4 times a year and should enhance the exchange of information within the researchers and the consortium. This meeting is made via an online platform which allows communication and exchange of data.
Elke Warmerdam from the Netherlands who is doing her PhD project in Kiel (Germany) will be the first ESR to lead this E-Journal Club. In her project, she is focussing on human movement analysis using Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). She will develop several algorithms, based on three IMUs, eg.: for detecting bradykinesia (a symptom of Parkinson’s disease) or for estimating the foot trajectory.
In order to introduce the other researchers to her topic, she will present the paper “Physical Performance and Physical Activity in Older Adults” (van Lummel et al. 2015) to the other ESRs. This presentation followed by a intense discussion will allow the other fellows to get an insight into her research and enhance the collaboration in possible overlapping fields.
